TH Bell Incentive Loan Program- The state-funded TH Bell program is an amazing opportunity for Utah high school students who demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in education. TH Bell promotes the teaching profession to all students by providing a college loan specific to students enrolling in Teacher Preparation programs throughout the state and this opportunity is especially encouraging for those who may feel otherwise restricted by the cost of college to explore the unique financial assistance available through this loan forgiveness program. Deadline: March 27, 2018
Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance Scholarship- The Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance is proud to award $4,000 to one student each semester whose life has been impacted by cancer whether they have dealt with it personally or within their family. Requirements are the student must be enrolled full-time at an accredited two-year or four-year university, community college or junior college, or a graduate degree program. Student must be a United States citizen, in good academic standing, and have a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher to be eligible. Deadline: March 31, 2018
Western Undergraduate Exchange Program (WUE/WICHE)- Looking for a tuition break to attend a school outside of Utah? Check out the WUE/WICHE program

National Merit Scholarship Program- For all students who wish to attend a college/university and have taken the PSAT. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and by meeting published program entry/participation requirements. You must take the Preliminary SAT before your 11th grade year of high school. Click here for the list of requirements.
Questbridge College Prep Scholarship- The QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship is designed to distinguish qualified high school juniors as potential candidates for admission to top colleges, and provides resources to help them get there. Winners of the scholarship could receive one of the following awards: Full Scholarships to College Summer Programs, National College Admissions Conference Invitations, One-on-One College Admissions Counseling, All-Expense-Paid College Visits, Telementoring with College Students, Online Test Preparation, or Quest for Excellence Awards. Students must be juniors who are planning to apply to college during the fall of their senior year.
BYU George Hansen Fellowship Scholarship- For all incoming BYU freshmen who enroll as geology or ear and space science education majors. To be considered to you must meet the following criteria: be a graduating high school senior, enroll as geology or earth and space science education major, continue in one of these majors, maintain at least 3.3 GPA, and abide by all BYU standards of conduct. First Ascent Scholarship- The mission of the First Ascent Scholars Program is to encourage and enable financially in need high-school students to (a) go to college, (b) connect to the University of Utah community, and (c) reach their academic potential. The First Ascent Scholarship will provide students with funds covering unmet financial need, as well as room and board (on campus residency is required for the first 2 years of enrollment), in an effort to ensure students can concentrate on what matters…their education. The student must meet the following guidelines: be a current high school senior, have applied or will apply to the University of Utah, demonstrated interest in business, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and show demonstrated financial need to attend college. College Sports Recruiting Scholarship- College Sports Scholarships is offering a $1,000 scholarship to eligible high school seniors. The College Sports Recruiting Scholarship will be awarded to 1-5 winners each year. To be eligible you must be a current or former high school athlete. The details for the contest and eligibility rules are available on their webpage for the contest. Deadline: July 1, 2018.
2016 Disability Scholarship Program- A generous $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to one student for use towards their college costs. To qualify for this scholarship: You must currently be enrolled in or have been accepted to (and planning to attend) a college or university in the United States. You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA in the current or most recent secondary education program you have attended. You must have a physician documented disability. Deadline: August 1, 2018.
Christensen & Hymas General Scholarship- Kenneth Christensen and Russell Hymas, the lawyers here are proud to offer a generous $1,000.00 scholarship for any individuals who qualify. To qualify for this scholarship: You must be currently enrolled in or have been accepted to (and planning to attend) a University or College in the United States You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher Cumulative GPA of the current or most recent secondary education program you have attended You are required to submit a transcript verifying your GPA. Scholarship America: Dream Award
Deadline: August 2018
Requirements: Open to undergraduate students who have completed at least one semester of college with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The goal of the scholarship is to assist students from across the nation entering their second year or higher of education beyond high school. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. The awards will grow in amount each year, allowing students to receive aid throughout their college careers.

Past Deadline Scholarships
National High School Essay Contest- The contest is administered by AFSA, with USIP as a core sponsor for 2015-2016. The winner of the contest will receive a $2,500 cash prize, an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., to meet the secretary of state and tour USIP, and a full-tuition paid voyage with Semester at Sea upon the student’s enrollment at an accredited university. The runner-up will receive a $1,250 cash prize and a full scholarship to participate in the International Diplomacy Program of the National Student Leadership Conference. Students are eligible to participate if they are U.S. citizens, their parents/guardians are not in the Foreign Service, and they are in grades nine through twelve. Microsoft Disability Scholarship- The Microsoft disability Scholarship was established in 2013 to support students with disabilities headed to college, increase the enrollment of persons living with a disability in higher education and decrease unemployment bias for disabled persons. The scholarship is employee funded and eligible for match through The Seattle Foundation. To-date we have awarded 10 students a $5k scholarship as they start college. Our big announcement for the 2017/2018 school year – we are adjusting the scholarship to a renewable, $5k/year award (up to $20k) having a bigger impact for our recipients! Deadline: March 15th 2018.
The Utah H.S. Entrepreneur Challenge- The High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge (HS UEC) is designed to encourage high school students to explore innovation and entrepreneurship and offers over $30,000 in cash and scholarship prizes. All high school students (or those ages 14-18 years old) throughout Utah are encouraged to compete. Deadline: March 1, 2018 @ noon.
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Scholarships and Tuition Awards- The Career and Technical Education Scholarships and Tuition Awards are for outstanding Career and Technical Education (CTE) students. The awards cover UP TO ONE year of tuition only (no other expenses) for those senior students who have excelled in their Career and Technical Education (CTE) areas. Eligible candidates are those who are (1) planning on attending a post-secondary institution in a CTE program that is a two-year Associate Degree program or less (preceding immediate employment in that area) OR (2) those who are planning to teach in a CTE area (a four-year program). New Century Scholarship- The New Century Scholarship encourages Utah high school students to accelerate their education by earning an Associate degree in high school from an institution within the Utah System of Higher Education. The scholarship may be used at any four-year public college or university in the Utah System of Higher Education, as well as at Brigham Young University-Provo, and Westminster College. Regents' Scholarship- The Regents’ Scholarship encourages Utah high school students to prepare for college academically and financially by taking a core course of study and saving for college. The scholarship may be used at any public college or university in the Utah System of Higher Education, as well as at Brigham Young University-Provo, LDS Business College, and Westminster College. NAE EngineerGirl Essay Contest- The National Academy of Engineering invites students (both boys and girls) in grades 3-12 to submit an essay about how they would protect the environment and the safety, health, and well-being of the public as a responsible engineer. Cash prizes of $500, $250, and $100 are available for the best essays in each of 3 age categories. Deadline: February 1, 2018
CampNeuro Salt Lake City Scholarship- CampNeuro, run by local medical students in 28 cities nationwide, is a 1-week summer day camp open to high school students interested in exploring careers in medicine. Open to all high school students (including Spring/Summer 2016 graduates) at least 15 years and older as of first day of assigned session. Spots are limited and filled on a rolling, first-come, first-serve basis. Students that are interested in applying for the camp can find the application information on their website. America's Freedom Festival Scholarships- Multiple scholarship opportunities for students. There is an essay, speech, storytelling, video, and art contest that students can enter. Any student in 9-12 grade can enter the scholarship contests. You can click the link or check out their website at: http://www.freedomfestival.org/ Deadline for all contests: January 16, 2018.
Ron Brown Scholarship – For African-American seniors who will make significant contributions to society. You must excel academically, exhibit leadership, participate in community service, and have financial need. Deadline: January 9th 2017 for the Ron Brown Scholarship only.
Sterling Scholar Award/Scholarship- The Sterling Scholar Awards are open to Utah public high school seniors. It is expected that each school will nominate one candidate in any of the 14 categories. Each school may nominate only one nominee in each of the 14 categories and a nominee may be nominated in only one category. The selection process and nomination of nominees as Sterling Scholar nominees is left entirely up to each high school. Electronic portfolios are due January 5th.
Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program- National program awards college scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. Recipients receive $10,000 renewable scholarships- up to $40,000 per student. Deadline to come January 4, 2018..
Foot Locker Scholar Athletes- The Foot Locker Scholar-Athletes program awards $20,000 to 20 high school, college-bound seniors across the nation for being exemplary leaders on their sports teams, in their classrooms, and in their communities. The college scholarship, sponsored by the Foot Locker Foundation, is intended to help phenomenal student-athletes pursue their dreams of attending and excelling at a four-year college/university. Deadline: December 15, 2017.
Herff Jones "Believe In You" Scholarship: SLSPA will be nominating one SPA Senior to compete for these national scholarships, which can provide up to $12,000. Please review the following criteria, and submit all of the required information to Cierra Bell in the Counseling Office. One page should include the quantitative criteria listed below, and a second page should include a response to the essay question. After the submissions have been received, one student will be selected and notified so that they can complete the short online process for the national award. *December 8, 2017.

Daniels Scholarship Program- The Daniels Scholarship is an exciting and challenging program that provides the opportunity to obtain a four-year college education at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States, complete with financial and personal support throughout the journey. The Daniels Scholarship Program offers resources, encouragement, and inspiration far beyond the financial assistance needed to earn a college degree. Our goal is not only to help Daniels Scholars succeed in college, but to ensure that they thrive beyond their years in college. Deadline: November 30, 2017.
Award for Aspirations in Computing- The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors high school women who are active and interested in computing and technology, and encourages them to pursue their passions. This multi-tiered competition includes recognition at the national level (sponsored by Bank of America) and at the local level (sponsored by Microsoft), serving all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and all U.S. overseas military bases. Any U.S. high school woman with outstanding aptitude and interest in computing is eligible to apply for the Award for Aspirations in Computing. Applications are open online. Deadline: November 6, 2017
Prudential Spirit of Community Award- Open to all grade levels. Recognizes outstanding volunteer service. Only two students can be nominated by Cyprus High School; if you are interested in applying, pick up an information flyer at the Counseling Center front desk. The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. The program was created in 1995 by Prudential in partnership with NASSP to honor middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state, and national level. The program's goals are to applaud young people who are already making a positive difference in their towns and neighborhoods and to inspire others to think about how they might contribute to their communities. Application will open September 2016. Deadline: November 7, 2017.
Jump$tart Scholarship- The Utah Jump$tart Scholarship Competition is designed to recognize students who have demonstrated a solid understanding of financial literacy concepts and are pursuing a post-secondary education. Winners are awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship may be used for any field of study at an accredited post-secondary institution. The institution must be a Title IV fund-dispersing institution. Applicants must be high school seniors, must have successfully completed or currently enrolled in a financial literacy course, and plan to pursue a post-secondary education. IME Becas Scholarship – U of U: Must be an admitted, undergraduate or graduate, degree-seeking student at The University of Utah. Be able to demonstrate experience with, a commitment to, and leadership or service within Mexican immigrant communities. Be able to demonstrate financial need. Must maintain full-time enrollment status (minimum 12 credit hours undergraduate or 9 credit hours graduate) to receive funding. Must have and maintain a semester and cumulative 3.0 GPA. Must have graduated from a Utah high school. Deadline: November 17, 2017.
QuestBridge College Match- QuestBridge is a non-profit program founded in 1994 that helps outstanding students access top-tier educational opportunities. The National College Match allows you to apply early to up to 8 partner colleges and rank them in order of preference. You would “match” to the highest school that appears on your ranked list that also wants to admit you through the College Match. Apply for the National College Match by September 2017.
The National YoungArts Foundation- YoungArts identifies and nurtures emerging artists ages 15-18 (or in grades 10-12) in the visual, literary, design and performing arts. Winners in cinematic arts, dance, design, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing are provided once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, significant access to scholarships and national recognition. YoungArts ensures the nation’s most outstanding young artists are encouraged – at critical junctures in their lives – to pursue careers in the arts. Deadline: October 13, 2017.
International High School Essay Contest & the African American Male College Scholarships Competition- The High School Essay contest is open to ANY High School Senior. Locally, three book scholarships will be given to the top essays of students in good academic standing. The local 1st place winner has a chance of winning one of four college scholarships at the National level: 1st Scholarship: $5,000; 2nd Scholarship: $3,000; 3rd Scholarship: $2,000; and 4th Scholarship: $1,000 2) There will be one college scholarships up to $1,000 given to the winner of the African American Male Scholars competition. This scholarship is for a college-bound high school senior in good academic standing. Based upon additional funding, a second and third scholarship may be given to the second and third place contestants. Contest is open to only Utah residents. Horatio Alger Scholarship – For students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, good academic performance, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. Applications must be submitted on-line at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships. The application will require time to complete, including obtaining a letter of support from an adult who understands your adversity and can describe the unique circumstances in your life. LLS Student of the Year Scholarship- High school students in Utah are being invited to participate in a six-week competition through which candidates will compete for the title of Student of the Year. The candidate who raises the most at the end of the six-week period will be recognized as the Student of the Year and receive a $2,500 scholarship to the college/university of his/her choice. The candidates are chosen by a committee that reviews the applications submitted by the students. LLS is looking for students who are interested in and enthusiastic about service, volunteerism, philanthropy, community outreach, and leadership. The Student of the Year campaign not only offers visibility in the community and local media but also demonstrates excellence in leadership and community engagement for college applications and professional resumes. For students at Salt Lake City Performing Arts High School who already exhibit many of these qualities, this provides a great opportunity to grow personally and support the mission of LLS. Peterson's Scholarship Giveaway- Enter for your chance to win a $5,000 Peterson's scholarship to help you pay for school. Utah Young Humanitarian Award- Youthlinc is now accepting applications for the 2015 Utah Young Humanitarian Award, $5,000 college scholarship. All Utah high school juniors, seniors and undergraduate college students who excel at giving back to their communities are eligible. There is one $5,000 winner, one $3,000 runner-up award, and three $1,000 runner-up awards. Go to their website www.youthlinc.org and click on the Young Humanitarian Award for more information. Regents' Scholarship- The Regents’ Scholarship encourages Utah high school students to prepare for college academically and financially by taking a core course of study and saving for college. The scholarship may be used at any public college or university in the Utah System of Higher Education, as well as at Brigham Young University-Provo, LDS Business College, and Westminster College. NAE EngineerGirl Essay Contest- The National Academy of Engineering invites students (both boys and girls) in grades 3-12 to submit an essay about how they would protect the environment and the safety, health, and well-being of the public as a responsible engineer. Cash prizes of $500, $250, and $100 are available for the best essays in each of 3 age categories. Deadline: February 1, 2018
CampNeuro Salt Lake City Scholarship- CampNeuro, run by local medical students in 28 cities nationwide, is a 1-week summer day camp open to high school students interested in exploring careers in medicine. Open to all high school students (including Spring/Summer 2016 graduates) at least 15 years and older as of first day of assigned session. America's Freedom Festival Scholarships- Multiple scholarship opportunities for students. There is an essay, speech, storytelling, video, and art contest that students can enter. Ron Brown Scholarship – For African-American seniors who will make significant contributions to society. You must excel academically, exhibit leadership, participate in community service, and have financial need. Deadline: January 9th 2017 for the Ron Brown Scholarship only.
Sterling Scholar Award/Scholarship- The Sterling Scholar Awards are open to Utah public high school seniors. It is expected that each school will nominate one candidate in any of the 14 categories. Each school may nominate only one nominee in each of the 14 categories and a nominee may be nominated in only one category. The selection process and nomination of nominees as Sterling Scholar nominees is left entirely up to each high school. Electronic portfolios are due January 5th.
Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program- National program awards college scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. Recipients receive $10,000 renewable scholarships- up to $40,000 per student. Deadline to come January 4, 2018..
Foot Locker Scholar Athletes- The Foot Locker Scholar-Athletes program awards $20,000 to 20 high school, college-bound seniors across the nation for being exemplary leaders on their sports teams, in their classrooms, and in their communities. The college scholarship, sponsored by the Foot Locker Foundation, is intended to help phenomenal student-athletes pursue their dreams of attending and excelling at a four-year college/university. Herff Jones "Believe In You" Scholarship: SLSPA will be nominating one SPA Senior to compete for these national scholarships, which can provide up to $12,000. Please review the following criteria, and submit all of the required information to Cierra Bell in the Counseling Office. One page should include the quantitative criteria listed below, and a second page should include a response to the essay question. After the submissions have been received, one student will be selected and notified so that they can complete the short online process for the national award. *December 8, 2017.
Criteria for scholarship winners will include the following:
- Quantitative criteria: GPA, class rank, test scores, honors, activities on campus and hours/types of community service.
- Qualitative criteria: Each student is asked to answer an essay question: "Please explain how a person believing in you has had a positive impact on your success. What did he/she do and how did it help?"
Daniels Scholarship Program- The Daniels Scholarship is an exciting and challenging program that provides the opportunity to obtain a four-year college education at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States, complete with financial and personal support throughout the journey. The Daniels Scholarship Program offers resources, encouragement, and inspiration far beyond the financial assistance needed to earn a college degree. Our goal is not only to help Daniels Scholars succeed in college, but to ensure that they thrive beyond their years in college. Deadline: November 30, 2017.
Award for Aspirations in Computing- The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors high school women who are active and interested in computing and technology, and encourages them to pursue their passions. This multi-tiered competition includes recognition at the national level (sponsored by Bank of America) and at the local level (sponsored by Microsoft), serving all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and all U.S. overseas military bases. Any U.S. high school woman with outstanding aptitude and interest in computing is eligible to apply for the Award for Aspirations in Computing. Applications are open online. Prudential Spirit of Community Award- Open to all grade levels. Recognizes outstanding volunteer service. Only two students can be nominated by Cyprus High School; if you are interested in applying, pick up an information flyer at the Counseling Center front desk. The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. The program was created in 1995 by Prudential in partnership with NASSP to honor middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state, and national level. The program's goals are to applaud young people who are already making a positive difference in their towns and neighborhoods and to inspire others to think about how they might contribute to their communities. Jump$tart Scholarship- The Utah Jump$tart Scholarship Competition is designed to recognize students who have demonstrated a solid understanding of financial literacy concepts and are pursuing a post-secondary education. Winners are awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship may be used for any field of study at an accredited post-secondary institution. The institution must be a Title IV fund-dispersing institution. Applicants must be high school seniors, must have successfully completed or currently enrolled in a financial literacy course, and plan to pursue a post-secondary education. IME Becas Scholarship – U of U: Must be an admitted, undergraduate or graduate, degree-seeking student at The University of Utah. Be able to demonstrate experience with, a commitment to, and leadership or service within Mexican immigrant communities. Be able to demonstrate financial need. Must maintain full-time enrollment status (minimum 12 credit hours undergraduate or 9 credit hours graduate) to receive funding. Must have and maintain a semester and cumulative 3.0 GPA. Must have graduated from a Utah high school. Deadline: November 17, 2017.
QuestBridge College Match- QuestBridge is a non-profit program founded in 1994 that helps outstanding students access top-tier educational opportunities. The National College Match allows you to apply early to up to 8 partner colleges and rank them in order of preference. You would “match” to the highest school that appears on your ranked list that also wants to admit you through the College Match. Apply for the National College Match by September 2017.
The National YoungArts Foundation- YoungArts identifies and nurtures emerging artists ages 15-18 (or in grades 10-12) in the visual, literary, design and performing arts. Winners in cinematic arts, dance, design, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing are provided once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, significant access to scholarships and national recognition. YoungArts ensures the nation’s most outstanding young artists are encouraged – at critical junctures in their lives – to pursue careers in the arts. Deadline: October 13, 2017.
International High School Essay Contest & the African American Male College Scholarships Competition- The High School Essay contest is open to ANY High School Senior. Locally, three book scholarships will be given to the top essays of students in good academic standing. The local 1st place winner has a chance of winning one of four college scholarships at the National level: 1st Scholarship: $5,000; 2nd Scholarship: $3,000; 3rd Scholarship: $2,000; and 4th Scholarship: $1,000 2) There will be one college scholarships up to $1,000 given to the winner of the African American Male Scholars competition. Horatio Alger Scholarship – For students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, good academic performance, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. LLS Student of the Year Scholarship- High school students in Utah are being invited to participate in a six-week competition through which candidates will compete for the title of Student of the Year. The candidate who raises the most at the end of the six-week period will be recognized as the Student of the Year and receive a $2,500 scholarship to the college/university of his/her choice. The candidates are chosen by a committee that reviews the applications submitted by the students. LLS is looking for students who are interested in and enthusiastic about service, volunteerism, philanthropy, community outreach, and leadership. The Student of the Year campaign not only offers visibility in the community and local media but also demonstrates excellence in leadership and community engagement for college applications and professional resumes. For students at Salt Lake City Performing Arts High School who already exhibit many of these qualities, this provides a great opportunity to grow personally and support the mission of LLS. Utah Young Humanitarian Award- Youthlinc is now accepting applications for the 2015 Utah Young Humanitarian Award, $5,000 college scholarship. All Utah high school juniors, seniors and undergraduate college students who excel at giving back to their communities are eligible. There is one $5,000 winner, one $3,000 runner-up award, and three $1,000 runner-up awards. Go to their website www.youthlinc.org and click on the Young Humanitarian Award for more information.
