Humanities Through the Performing Arts
*Counts for Language Arts 12, fine art, or elective credit.- (Seniors first preference, then Juniors) This course is designed to explore the humanities through a performing art lens. Course includes: students will learning to think independently, critically, and analytically about the performing arts, evaluating the arts from a number of perspectives including: philosophy, politics, economics, religion, race, gender, and culture; students will gain an insight into the importance of the arts in various cultures from around the world and through time. Students will be asked to read and write about the arts developing and strengthening their critical examination, research, and writing skills. Recommended to students who wish to more deeply examine and understand the performing arts, as well as those who would like to strengthen their abilities in analysis and writing.
PE Skills- Graduation Requirement
This course is designed to develop skills and techniques in a variety of team and individual sports as well as improvement in personal fitness.
Fitness for Life- Graduation Requirement
This course is designed to give students the knowledge and skills necessary to self-assess, create, conduct, evaluate, and redesign personal fitness programs.
